Mazar is a Dutch Passion classic from the 1990s that has since formed the genetic basis of countless modern hybrids — a robust Indica-dominant Afghan Kush variety crossed with a special phenotype of the legendary Skunk #1 to produce thick, heavy buds with pungent earthy hash aroma and the highest quality. The Afghanica lineage behind her comes from Mazar-i-Sharif in Afghanistan, the northern region that gave her name and contributed the trademark Afghan Indica characteristics: compact structure, thick fat leaves, rock-hard buds with a thick white layer of trichomes. The original Mazar line was developed in the 1980s from a high-quality Afghan crossed with a special Skunk #1, and the genetic mix was improved in 1997 — today Mazar remains one of Dutch Passion's best-selling and most appreciated varieties ever. The competition history is substantial: 2nd prize at the HTCC (High Times Cannabis Cup) in 1999, 2nd prize at the High Life Cup in the Netherlands in 2002, 1st prize at the Tipo Forte in Bologna Italy in 2008, and finally the Plant Of The Year Award from Soft Secrets Magazine in 2014, recognizing Mazar's long-term impact on the cannabis world. The terpene profile is dominated by Afghan hash character — earthy and piney scents predominate, accompanied by hints of herbs, incense, citrus, and sometimes sweeter floral notes.
