Special Queen 1 is a deliberate throwback to the 1990s skunk-hybrid era - the period when European breeders were racing to replicate the Mexican-Colombian-Afghan hybrid that had been arriving in Europe through the underground and trying to turn it into something reproducible and commercial. The result of that decade of work was the Skunk family that still anchors much of modern cannabis genetics. Special Queen 1 crosses Power Bud into classic Skunk to produce a clean, affordable version of that heritage - deliberately aimed at first-time growers and anyone who wants a no-fuss plant without committing premium-seed pricing to the experiment.
The grow is forgiving in exactly the way a beginner strain should be. Special Queen 1 germinates quickly, doesn't stretch excessively, tolerates both hydro and soil setups equally well, and works cleanly in SOG or ScrOG rotations. Indoors she will reach about 1.5m - slightly larger than compact indicas, so allow room - and outdoor plants push past 3m with full sun. It prefers warm climates but performs adequately in northern European weather (Netherlands, UK). Yields come in around 500 g/m2 indoor under a 600W, with outdoor plants hitting 550 g/plant or more. Flowering runs 8-9 weeks with the sativa-leaning bud structure that defines the skunk family - flowers distributed across the plant rather than concentrated in a single dominant cola, which is why it yields well without needing complex training. Some phenos finish as early as week 7.
The effect is textbook Skunk: a mostly-mental stone with enough uplift on the front end to shake off anxiety, settling into a relaxed, conversational headspace rather than full couchlock. It's not the most powerful smoke in the RQS catalog - that's not the point - but for the price point it's one of the most satisfying introductions to the Skunk lineage available. A solid, reliable rotation pick for experienced growers who want something low-maintenance to run alongside trickier cultivars, and a genuinely good first grow for anyone still learning their cultivation fundamentals.
