Shaman

Shaman is a Sativa-dominant outdoor classic from Dutch Passion, built from a cross between an exceptional quality male Purple #1 and a Skunk female — a reliable, potent F1 hybrid that has been in the Dutch Passion catalog for several decades and still attracts new growers each season. Originally developed as a regular seed strain, Shaman is also available as feminised seeds, giving growers a choice of format. The original breeding program crossed an early Skunk with a colorful Purple variety, and the work was perfected when a very robust and easy-to-grow outdoor plant emerged from the selection. Sativa dominance defines the experience — the Sativa side handles growth structure, effect, and most of the aromatic character, with the small Indica proportion contributing to density and compactness where needed. Users describe the aroma as fresh, sweet, spicy, and floral, sometimes with sour notes and a pine undertone across different phenotypes. The taste is mainly sweet and spicy, with some phenotypes leaning more acidic and others expressing a piney, woody character. Green phenotypes usually taste slightly sweeter than the purple phenotype, which is worth noting for growers selecting cuts. Because of the diversity of phenotypes within the line, there's genuinely something for every palate — and for growers who run multiple plants from a single pack, pheno-hunting can reveal genuinely distinct expressions of the strain. The most striking visual trait is the purple coloration: about 50% of plants develop pink/purple tones in the flowers, ranging from light pink through rich violet to almost-black dark purple depending on phenotype and temperature. On certain phenotypes even the flower hairs go pink or purple instead of the usual orange or brown, which produces some of the most photogenic outdoor cannabis flower in the Dutch Passion lineup.
