White Label's White Widow Regular is the budget-tier interpretation of one of Amsterdam's most recognizable hybrids — 65% indica, 35% sativa, and still a coffeeshop mainstay nearly a quarter century after the original release. The strain gets its name from the thick layer of white trichomes that coats mature buds, a feature that signals the dense THC content underneath. Compact plants, high yield potential, and a genetic line that traces back thousands of years make White Widow a strain that has survived every fashion cycle in cannabis genetics since the 1990s. White Label's version preserves the core genetics while prioritizing accessibility — easy to grow, resistant to temperature fluctuations, and forgiving enough that newcomers growing cannabis for the first time can run it without catastrophe.
Plants reach medium height with a visual signature that stands out wherever they're grown: those many white trichome glands that protect the buds give the flowers an almost mystical visual aura, which is part of why the strain has stayed commercially popular across generations of smokers. Growers with warm climates and early enough start can run it outdoors, though better results typically come from indoor cultivation under artificial light. Flowering runs around two months, and growers who let the plants finish fully rather than rushing harvest get the exceptional trichome production the strain is known for. Half a kilo per square metre is absolutely possible under indoor conditions — XXL yields are one of the main reasons certain growers return to White Widow Regular year after year. The compact structure makes it a strong candidate for SOG, where many small plants sit closely alongside each other for maximum density.
In terms of effect, White Widow lands among the top tier of classic cannabis genetics — the many trichomes set expectations, and the high delivers. A slight tickle in the head, a sudden energy boost, and a creative thinking phase arrive first, dominated by the sativa side of the hybrid. That initial cerebral phase gives way to muscle relaxation and a settled body state as the full hybrid power unfolds. Novice users should pace themselves; the THC content is high enough to catch casual smokers off-guard. When smoked the flavor is earthy, spicy, and sweet, with a pine note characteristic of the marijuana family, and depending on phenotype the base notes carry bright citrus flavors underneath. For maximum flavor expression a vaporizer is worth using. Also available as White Widow Feminized by White Label or White Widow Automatic by White Label for growers who want alternative seed formats without leaving the White Label tier. One note on the breeding lineage: White Widow is based on genetics dating back thousands of years — the parent landraces from Brazil and India are themselves selected from generations of mountain and tropical breeding before they ever entered the Amsterdam hybrid program. That deep history is part of why the strain has been so difficult for newer hybrids to fully displace: few modern crosses have the same depth of stabilization behind them. The compact, sturdy structure stays compact across generations of seed, and the trichome production is more reliable than most lines twice the price. If you're looking at budget-tier White Widow seeds, this is the established benchmark — every other coffeeshop White Widow on the menu is being measured against this one.
